2025 Design Trends I Secretly Hope Stick Around

by Melanie Ward

Design trends come and go faster than a TikTok sound. One year we’re all painting accent walls, the next we’re wallpapering ceilings. It’s hard to keep up.

But every so often, a trend pops up that I really hope sticks around. Here are my current favourites:

1. Natural Wood Tones

Warm woods are back, and I couldn’t be happier. They make spaces feel cozy and timeless — a nice break from the all-grey-everything we saw for years.

2. Statement Lighting

Good lighting is like good jewelry: it pulls the whole outfit (or room) together. Bold pendants, sculptural sconces, and chandeliers that double as art? Yes, please.

3. Texture, Texture, Texture

From boucle chairs to limewash walls, texture adds depth. It makes a room feel lived in, not staged.

4. Colour with Personality

We’re slowly moving away from stark neutrals, and I’m here for it. Think earthy greens, soft terracottas, and muted blues.

What I’d Love to Retire:

Sorry shiplap, but your moment has passed. Also, please — no more “live, laugh, love” decals.

Design is personal, but the best trends are the ones that make your home feel like you.
